Kiwanis Builders Club is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership.

What: PBMS Speech & Debate Club Meetings

The PBMS Speech & Debate Team and Club were formed in 2010 by Mr. Kopp. PBMS was one of the first 13 middle schools to be invited to join the Broward County Speech & Debate Initiative, which originally catered only to high school competitions. In the years since PBMS has become associated with the Initiative, team members have won over 600 medals and have consistently placed at or near the top in both speech & debate competitions.

Congratulations to Mr. Kopp and his Law students for winning 2nd Place at the district's Mock Trial. See a video of one of our Law students, Eva Spina, in action.

The Pompano Beach Middle School Mock Trial Team took home the "silver" by earning a second-place finish in the 2022 Broward County 17th Circuit Court Mock Trial Competition finals. The finals were held at the Broward County Courthouse along with the high school mock trial team finals. Attached, please find photos from the event.

Future Florida Educators of America [FFEA]

What do you need to join the Florida Educators of America Club?

Requirements: 2.0 GPA

Grade Level: All Grades (6-8)

Dues: $20 (Due Date TBA)

Major Activities: Teacher Appreciation, Fall Festival, and Teacher Shadowing

Future Educators of America is a club dedicated to supporting teachers, faculty, staff, and students. This club allows students to get hands-on experience in the teaching and education field, and see the true life, dedication, and drive educator value. PBMS FEA chapter attends district meetings, fundraisers, workshops, and conventions to educate and develop young potential educators. We also collect toys, clothing, and food for the needy, and support other student organizations and activities such as Student Government Association Events and Teacher Appreciation Week!

Future Educators of America (FEA)
The Pompano Beach Middle School Chapter of FEA encourages participants to explore traditional and unique careers in education. These careers include teachers, coaches, principals, and professors. They can also include artists, musicians, writers, producers, and animators--anyone who is going to use their talents to educate others. The student bodies in America's schools are becoming more diverse. The world is becoming smaller and more technologically advanced. Educators are going to need to be versatile, well-rounded, knowledgeable, and engaging in order to prepare the next generations for world citizenship. Club members will participate in fun activities that will prepare you to become a teacher and you will meet other aspiring teachers from all over the county. We will identify college scholarships for our club members. We will also get involved in initiatives to ensure that teachers are properly compensated, schools have adequate resources, and students have equal educational opportunities. Students with Academic Achievement Goals (SWAAG)

Students With Academic and Achievement Goals (SWAAG) mentoring men club at Pompano Beach Middle School. SWAAG addresses certain problems our young men experienced within the school and the community. The SWAAG program is designed to decrease our young men's adverse behaviors such as suspensions, violence, disruptions, and immaturity. It also helps develop a learning style that focuses on increasing assertive behaviors within and outside the classroom.

SWAAG is a part of a mentoring curriculum in conjunction with KAPOW from the district that supports our young men with career readiness. KAPOW, our district program, will teach and inform our young men about what it takes to survive in life and adjust to being successful in their job.

SWAAG is just more than a group of young men just hanging out to get together; we cover several areas such as:

Social and Emotional
Character Traits
Career Readiness
Community Service

SWAAG members volunteer their time to help others throughout the community and work towards becoming successful young men.

Girl Power Club

What is Girl Power:

Students with Academic Achievement and Goals, “GIRL POWER”, is a school-based program designed to enhance the academic performance and leadership skills of 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade girls. GIRL POWER CLUB meetings combine learning, fun, leadership opportunities, peer mentoring, and self-esteem building exercises.

Mission Statement

Our mission at PBMS Girl Power is to provide young ladies with the knowledge needed to build character, self-esteem, and leadership. Our goal is to equip the members with the tools to assume leadership roles in the home and the professional world. We deliver the skills needed for the life-long journey to maintain a positive self-image and healthy self-esteem while remaining true to oneself.

National Junior Honor Society (N.J.H.S.)

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is more than just an honor roll.

The Honor Society chapter establishes rules for membership based on a student's outstanding performance in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built.

PEACE Club

P.E.A.C.E Club Stands for People Exhibiting Awareness Creates Equality. It is a club designed to unite people who identify in the LGBTQ+ community and those who are straight. Together to spread awareness of social issues that affect behavior in and out of school, such as bullying, racism, peer pressure, and sexual harassment. It is a safe place run by students where they can meet, support each other, and talk about problems that they have. Our mission is to create a safe environment for all students to feel comfortable and protected at school.

Our PEACE club participates in PEACE week and Anti-Bullying Week.

Project Brain

Sponsor: Ms. Lisa Mills, Project Brain Leader

Project Brain is a social norms campaign facilitated in numerous Broward County public schools, grades 6-12. The Project Brain health campaign empowers youth to prevent or reduce alcohol consumption. Through the use of the research-based social norms approach, a change in perception toward alcohol is created resulting in a change in behavior.

How is this accomplished? Social Norms marketing is based on the theory that people’s behavior is influenced by their perceptions of how they think others are behaving “normally” or “typically.” Research has shown that people’s behavior follows what we think the majority of others are doing. Using social norms marketing to inform people that the majority of their peers do NOT smoke, drink alcohol, drink, and drive helps to reduce the likelihood that they will. Research shows over 80% of Broward County students choose not to Drink. Marketing this information reduces the likelihood that students will begin to drink alcohol and can reduce use if they have already begun using this drug. What are you feeding YOUR brain? S.G.A. (Student Government Association) is a club that allows students to have a voice for their peers in their grade level. Students come together to voice their concerns and share their ideas on how more students can become involved in school. We plan events and organize opportunities for students to enhance their experience at the school.
